I love to read old, musty books.
This is literally a book that is a photo copy of another older book. a large portion of the pages are blank, crossed out, doubled, or otherwise unreadable. The fact that this book is even allowed an ISBN number is an atrocity. My candid advice is to not get this book and keep looking, because this book basically gives the middle finger to Alfred Lord Tennyson.
I love Tennyson,but this type is so small it is very hard to read.
I've always loved this man's work. His words picture dreams, soft breezes, flowered fields and many thoughts. Read in a quiet corner of your own.
Tennyson's poetry is excellent. This edition is well laid out, with a linked table of contents at the beginning that leads to subordinate linked tables later on. So if you click for example on Idylls of the King in the main table you are taken to a table which allows you to go straight to the relevant section of the Idylls. The formatting is fine - line breaks and breaks between poems are sensible. Very neat - and a pleasant surprise to find such sophistication in such an early edition.
I ordered this copy of The Complete Poetical Works of Alfred, Lord Tennyson because it was not as expensive as other complete collections. I wish I had know, however, what "classic reprint" meant. If you actually want to be able to read any of the poems or plays, purchase a different copy. The font in this book is smaller than a size 8, and although it has been "digitally restored" it is still faded and difficult to decipher. I am relatively young with good eye sight, and I have never had problem reading smaller print. The text in this edition, however, is ridiculously small and unreadable. If you want to get this for a fancy looking coffee table book, go ahead. But if you actually want to be able to READ the works of Tennyson, spend your money on something else.
This book is *not* the complete works of Alfred Tennyson! It is a very poor reproduction of an old book, page for page, except that half of the pages are too dark to be even remotely legible. It is literally a page-by-page scan of an old document. The publisher says on the inside of the book "This important reprint was made from an old and scarce book. Therefore, it may have deefects such as missing pages, erroneous pagination, blurred pages, missing text, poor pictures, markings, marginalia and other issues beyond our control..." this is putting it mildly. The scans are quite literally unreadable. I find that there is no reason whatsoever to purchase this book and am very disappointed that posted no description so I was unaware of what I was actually buying.
